I keep racing pigeons and show them in the winter months. My local racing club is Rosewell HC and we fly in the Midlothian fed.
I have kept pigeons for as long as I can remember as my father has had pigeons in back garden since I was born. Most of the team I have are Dordins, Delbars, Jan aarden and Ko Nipus.
I have bought pigeons from all over the UK but mostly from a man named David Carruthers. David has helped me in every way possible from the little tips to the most crucial info there is to give, Also had a lot of help from my father naturally. I also have a few pigeons from the team of Todhunter & Ismay who again have bred me some very good pigeons in years gone bye. The powder blue's and pencils take the eye of any pigeon man.
I currently have a 24ft loft with 4x 5ft sections and a 4ft avary build on at the end. Would love to build bays on the front of the loft but cant due to lack of space and the fact my dad races widowhood and the cocks would never train as they'd be trying to get in my loft to the hens.
I am also going to try my hand at the SNFC in 2009 with my team of distance birds that are mainly bred from the late W Brown of tranent.
Bought a few birds at his sale so hopefully something shall come from them that can set the pulse racing at national time.

I also have an interest in the world of horse racing and used to be share holders in 6 horses with a good deal of success. I tend not to go to race meeting much anymore as I aint really got the time but hope one day to start back and be in the owners world again!!
